Literally! |
Is it just me? Am I the only individual on the planet guilty of spending way too much cash on food? Groceries are one thing and a necessity. In my home with four kids we eat up $1200 in groceries, monthly, easily. But, that's not what I'm referring to. I mean, the daily miscellaneous spending that goes unnoticed. You'll be surprised at how much money you spend annually on a cup of coffee and lunch. I just calculated the amount I spent over the last six months on my daily caramel mocchiatto with soy and my little lunch with a bottle of juice. $5 for the coffee doesn't seem like much at the time due to the much needed boost it gives. And then lunch is a must have...no one chooses to starve during a long day at the office. But when you start to factor in 5 workdays, spending say $15 a day on coffee & lunch, tha'ts $75 a week. Now, times that by 4. This equals out to $300 a month. Now, times that by 6 (for the past 6 months that I have practiced this unconscious frivolous spending) the amount spent is $1800. This does not sit well with me. Today I traded my Starbucks for Folgers and my daily trips to my fav lunch spots have been traded in for a brown bagged version of my fav salads! I think its time for me to get a little creative. I'm done with dumping my hard earned cash down the drain!
